Some of the places I’ve seen during the last three weeks:  (left to right, top to bottom)

San Diego, El Malpais National Monument, The Kirk Douglas Room at El Rancho Motel in Gallup, old Buckhorn Baths Motel near home, Yuma Territorial Prison, San Xavier Mission,  and Bonneville Salt Flats.

I’ve been to other places too, but didn’t really have opportunities to take pictures.  If I hadn’t taken this job, I’d be missing out on a lot of new sights.

I love my job.

AZ Ajo

The Catholic Church in Ajo, AZ

I spent last week in northern Arizona on the Hopi reservation.  This week I drove around the southern part of the state.  Started the week in Phoenix, then Ajo, then Casa Grande, back to Ajo, then Tucson.  The week provided me with a few surprises, like the mountainous terrain on the Barry Goldwater Air Force Range, that there was even a bombing range out there, the picturesque plaza in Ajo, how green the Sonoran desert was, Kitt Peak National Observatory was just west of Tucson, and Tucson had more western-themed tourist attractions other than Old Tucson.  I took pictures!

Flew home this morning.  I’d been worried I hadn’t given the cats enough food and water when I left, so I drove straight home from the airport.  But, the cats still had food and water when I got home.  They were a little standoffish at first, but soon warmed up to me because they love to be pet.  I pulled out the vacuum to get some cat hair and litter off the floor and tripped the circuit breaker.  Found out I have two circuits for the 110 VAC.  I’d plugged into the 15A circuit (the other one is 20A), which also powered my internet modem, the microwave, the box fan next to my bed and the portable air conditioner in the shed.  The vacuum was just too much.  Plugged the vacuum into the outlet that was still working, finished up and then went outside to reset the breaker.  Yes, the breakers are on the outside of the house!

After greeting and feeding the cats, I lay down for a nap.  Slept for three hours.  Felt fantastic when I woke up.  Glad to be home again….

It’s the last night of this work trip.  One more night staying at the Northeast Sacramento Crowne Plaza.  I think this is my fifth night here, so it’s kind of like my second home.  Looking forward to flying back home tomorrow morning.

After work today, I came back to the hotel room and took a nap.  Watching Big Bang Theory on TBS.  Seems like old times….
